"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

Very well written, dude. My advice (not that you asked for it) is to try to lighten up on the "being the problem solver" part and just being okay with whatever the other person is bringing. People dont like to be projects, even when you have the best and purest of intentions, and it immediately changes the dynamic between you.

I, too, was a "fixer", a "pleaser" someone who always wanted "to be there for my partner".

What I found was that the people i was attracting were those who would take advantage of that fact to become emotional leeches, taking my support and giving nothing back but the opportunity to shoulder their burden and get nothing in return. This does not make them evil or crazy (although some were), it makes them the kinds of people who responded to what I put out there.

When I learned to draw boundaries, and be compassionate without trying to fix, or shoulder responsibility, and not let people take advantage, that is when i started to find people who were more genuinely appreciative and generous with their own time and resources. I'm now a year and a quarter into the best relationship I've ever had, and we're both there for each other in whatever way we need.

Not because either of us is 'a fixer in the relationship'. Because we love each other.

I can't believe you didn't endorse ME (Chris Savage) for precinct delegate in Scio Township, Precinct 2. *sniff*

(Otherwise, looks like we're in complete agreement ; )
